Chemical engineering applications touch every aspect of everyday life — from our food to our school supplies, from our pharmaceuticals to our energy sources. Our graduates contribute professional solutions to the field, advance in leadership in the chemical engineering field, and more than half of our alumni earn advanced degrees in engineering and other fields.

Through the Department of Chemical Engineering, you can earn a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, or a dual degree in chemical engineering and chemistry, which you can earn with only one additional semester of courses. The dual degree can help you gain special insight into the science of chemistry and how it pairs well with engineering.

To supplement your undergraduate coursework, you can earn one of five specialized minors that let you delve deeper into a subject that interests you and will help you advance in your career.

If you're interested in a specific area of chemical engineering, you can choose to specialize in environmental applications, bioprocessing, or materials.

This program prepares its students for licensure or certification within the state of Louisiana. Please visit the list of licensure programs for important information if you plan to move out of state.
