Facilities: Controls and Simulation Laboratory

This laboratory is dedicated to our controls course. It contains 18 color graphics terminals used to run our IBM Advanced Control System (ACS) package on our university IBM 3090 mainframe.

This laboratory also includes some interaction with the Unit Operations laboratory. In Madison 210 there is a computer interface connected to a dual-effect evaporator. There are also three table top control units in Madison 110, which are used to illustrate controls in a real time application.

Since the last ABET visit the laboratory has been enhanced by the construction of two tabletop process control units in Madison 110. An ethernet process control system was recently purchases as well as ChemCad software to help in process simulation.
